Black Book Values
- You have two methods to search for your Black Book used truck value. You may search by VIN number, or you may configure your search by drop-down menus. In either case, you should know the vehicle mileage, the options, and accessories on the truck to secure an accurate truck value. However, you may secure an approximate value without this information.
- The prices published in the Black Book online Heavy-Duty truck Guide cover class 4 through 8 tractors and straight trucks used in the commercial trucking and transportation industry.
- Each model listed includes a model description showing cab configuration, VIN Model Number, cab to axle range, engine type with horsepower range, GVW and/or GCW ranges and used vehicle values for average and rough condition wholesale, loan value and average retail. (See Sample Valuation)
- Black Book used truck values include pricing for class 4 through 8 tractors and straight trucks for the last ten years. If your truck is more than ten years old, we can not provide a truck value.
- As no two models are exactly alike, selected equipment is listed as an addition to or deletion from the vehicle values that are published. (See Sample Valuation)
- Please remember that dealers are not obligated to pay the price listed. Truck dealers must absorb inspection, reconditioning, holding and sales costs before selling the vehicle. Other factors that impact the truck valuation are the condition, mileage, recent repair work, demand for the particular model, inventory levels, seasonality and whether you have a clean title or a salvage title.

- Add: when additional equipment is included over the base model listed, use the values to add to base vehicle value
- Deduct: when a particular vehicle has less equipment than the listed model, use these values to subtract from the listed base vehicle value
- Mileage Factors: provides the mileage category for allowable mileage per year and recommended penalties for excessive mileage.
