House Bill Authorizes Funds for Highway and Highway Safety Programs

The House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee authorized a new bill to fund and reform highway, transit, and highway safety programs. The Surface Transportation Reauthorizations and Reforms Act was a bipartisan effort and could potentially provide a boost to the nation’s infrastructure.

In a press release, the American Trucking Associations CEO Bill Graves praised many parts of the bill, noting in particular the clampdown on tolling and the establishment of a dedicated freight fund.

“While we’re anxious to see the funding portion of the bill, the roadmap laid out by this legislation is a good one for highway safety and efficiency,” said Graves.
