Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is showing off the 2017 Ram Power Wagon. It is a reimagining of the Ram Rebel with nostalgic looks and off-road capability.
Starting at $51,695, the 2017 Ram Power Wagon will start competing with off-road rivals such as the Ford Raptor and the Toyota Tundra TRD-PRO.
Ram built the Power Wagon on the Ram 2500 platform and added Ram Rebel design language. The Power Wagon has a new grille and tailgate with black accents and late-70’s era nostalgic graphics.
“Dating back to 1945, the Ram Power Wagon’s heritage holds a distinctive position in the Ram Truck lineup as an example of engineering innovation and off-road capability,” said Rob Wichman, who directs engineering for the truck brand. “For 2017, the Power Wagon’s best-in-class, can-do toughness is matched by can’t-stop-me looks.”
It will be available in eight colors: Bright White, Flame Red, Brilliant Black, Granite Crystal, Blue Streak, Delmonico Red, Bright Silver and Maximum Steel.
Under the hood is a 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engine creating 410 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque. It will have a six-speed automatic transmission capable of manual shifting. The 2017 Ram Power Wagon offers off-roading capability with Bilstein mono-tube shocks, 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires, electronic locking front and rear differentials, a five-link rear coil spring suspension and complete under-chassis armor.
With 14.3 inches of ground clearance and 26 inches of wheel travel, the 2017 Ram Power Wagon can ford 30 inches of water. It also has tow hooks, a winch rated at 12,000-pounds and a towing capacity of 10,030 lbs.
