The 2018 Ram ProMaster is a versatile cargo van with 15 body and wheelbase combinations.
The ProMaster is Ram’s Class 2 cargo vehicle and is the larger of two vans offered by the commercial arm of the brand.
The ProMaster is not sold in a passenger-only configuration, with Ram instead opting to sell the van with a multitude of roof heights and wheelbase lengths for maximum payload hauling.
The Ram ProMaster is related to the Fiat Ducato, which is sold in Europe, sharing nearly all of its body construction.
Front-wheel drive is standard in the ProMaster, making it unique among in the large cargo van segment. A new model is expected for the 2019 model year, which Ram says will bring significant capability and technology upgrades to the ProMaster, including an increased towing capacity of up to 6,800 pounds, new fleet management tech, three new body configurations and new branding to match Ram’s pickup trucks.

- The Ram ProMaster 1500 with 118-inch wheelbase and low roof starts at $31,640 after a $1,645 destination charge.

Trims
- The ProMaster can be ordered in three body configurations: cargo van, chassis cab and cutaway.
- Within those body styles, the van can be configured as a 1500, 2500 or 3500, with some configurations only available with as high-roof models.
Dimensions
- The Ram ProMaster’s wheelbase ranges from 118 inches in short-wheelbase, low-roof form to 159 inches with long wheelbase.
- Widths range from 90.5 inches for short-wheelbase versions to 109 inches for long-wheelbase versions.
- Overall length for the ProMaster is 195 inches for short-wheelbase versions and 211 inches to 213.1 inches for medium-wheelbase models. Long-wheelbase ProMasters range from 236 inches to 250 inches for extended versions.
Powertrain
- The 2018 ProMaster comes standard with a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 that makes 280 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. Models with this engine come standard with an automatic transmission.
- The ProMaster is available with a 3.0-liter EcoDiesel four cylinder that produces 174 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, which is paired with a six-speed manual transmission.
- Front-wheel drive is standard on every Ram ProMaster.
Towing
- The 2018 Ram ProMaster has a max towing capacity of 5,100 pounds in certain configurations.
- The ProMaster’s max payload is 4,440 pounds.
Mileage
- The 2018 Ram ProMaster with the PentaStar V6 engine is the most fuel-efficient configuration. It has EPA-estimated fuel economy ratings of 13 mpg in city driving and 18 mpg on the highway.
Safety
- Standard features include a rear-view camera and supplemental airbags.
- The ProMaster can be outfitted with orange seatbelts, a DOT-certified roadside safety kit and a security alarm.
- Remote start and a security alarm are optional on every ProMaster model.
Infotainment
- A 5.0-inch display with voice commands and Bluetooth is standard on every Ram ProMaster. The system also includes USB input and auxiliary steering wheel controls.
- Navigation can be added to every ProMaster model.

- The ProMaster can add an interior convenience package that brings locking glove box, under-seat storage trays, a cargo net and windshield document clip.
