The collaboration launches in conjunction with the release of Ford’s new midsize pickup. Yakima manufactures bike racks, cargo carriers, snow racks and other outdoor-centric aftermarket auto accessories. Buyers will be able to outfit new vehicles with Yakima products in the showroom.
Customers can add the cost of the accessories to their vehicle financing. All products will come with a 3-year or 36,000-mile Ford warranty with extended options available.
Ford dealerships will offer accessories like the BedRock Heavy Duty truck bed rack, which features an elevated design for carrying skis, bikes or boats while providing storage underneath. The BedRock is also compatible with the popular Yakima Skyrise rooftop tent.
Other accessories available in early 2019 include the BaseLine tower and JetStream crossbar cab rack, the LongArm bed extender with pad, and the GateKeeper tailgate pad. A complete list of available accessories is listed on Ford’s website.
Ford’s move will also extend to the Ford Explorer and the F-150. Available accessories include kayak racks, bike racks, roof racks, truck-bed tents and more. The accessory selection will grow to adapt to customer needs.
Earlier this year, Toyota Motor Corp. initiated a similar partnership with Yakima. The transition aligns with a trending interest in vehicles equipped for adventure as Americans spend more time outdoors.
