The midsize truck segment is prepping itself for a shakeup as the Jeep Gladiator pickup, which received rave reviews at the Los Angeles Auto Show last month, will spring into the mix in 2019. Automakers are offering deep year-end discounts to snag buyers away from Gladiator and another highly anticipated new entry – the Ford Ranger.
Honda does not offer nationwide or regional deals on the Ridgeline, but local dealerships may.
Trucks.com compiled a list of deals that represent the best value for consumers. Incentives vary by region, so always check with a local dealership. And don’t be afraid to negotiate.
All the deals in this article are valid through at least Jan. 2, although some may be extended.
Purchase deal: 0% financing for 36 months and $500 bonus cash
The Toyota Tacoma hasn’t had many changes since it was fully redesigned in 2016. However, it does now come standard with Toyota’s suite of advanced safety technology. The Tacoma also wins points for its high payload capacity and off-road prowess, but it can’t haul as much nor is it as fuel-efficient as other midsize trucks.
This offer includes all Tacoma models except TRD Pro. The $500 in holiday bonus cash must be used toward the cost of the truck. Qualified buyers must take delivery by Jan. 2 to get the low rate.
Lease deal: $279 per month for 39 months with $3,199 due at signing
This offer on the 2018 GMC Canyon SLE with a crew cab and short box improves upon the base model. The Canyon is powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that delivers 200 horsepower and 191 pound-feet of torque. It has a six-speed automatic transmission, fog lamps and a rear-bumper corner step.
The truck also comes standard with an 8-inch infotainment touch screen display, four USB ports, 17-inch aluminum wheels, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a tilting/telescoping steering column, steering wheel controls and GMC’s EZ Lift and Lower locking tailgate. It has an MSRP of $31,395.
This offer comes with a 32,500-mile limit. Qualified lessees must take delivery by Jan. 2.
Lease and purchase deals: 0% financing for 36 months plus $500 bonus cash
The Nissan Frontier is due for a redesign, but the 2018 model holds up as a competent daily driver and off-roader. New for 2018, Nissan added a standard rearview camera and Bluetooth without raising the MSRP more than a smidge.
As part of this deal, Nissan is offering qualified buyers 0 percent financing for 60 months or $2,000 cash back. The automaker is offering $500 bonus cash to Frontier buyers and lessees as well. Buyers must choose from new dealer stock by Jan. 2 to take advantage of this offer.
Lease deal: $299 per month for 36 months with $2,999 due at signing
Nissan is offering one of December’s best midsize truck lease deals on the 2018 Frontier SV 4×4 with the Value Truck Package and floor mats. It is powered by a 4.0-liter V6 engine that delivers 261 horsepower and 281 pound-feet of torque. The Value Truck Package includes rear sonar, dual-zone automatic climate control, additional speakers, auto-dimming mirror with compass and temperature, spray-in bed liner, Utili-Track system with four adjustable tie-down cleats, heated cloth seats, fog lights, a vehicle security system, sliding bed extender, trailer hitch, leather-wrapped steering wheel and leather-wrapped shift knob.
This offer comes with a 12,000-mile-per-year limit and expires Jan. 2.
Lease deal: $299 per month for 36 months with $5,009 due at signing
The Chevrolet Colorado is a well-packaged midsize truck with models that can function as daily drivers or boisterous off-roaders. The model in this offer is powered by a 3.6-liter V6 engine that produces 308 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque. The LT trim includes body-color rear bumper, mirror caps and door handles. Also included: 17-inch aluminum wheels, an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen display, remote keyless entry, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, rearview camera and six-way power-adjustable driver seat.
Current lessees of 2012 model year or newer select Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC vehicles pay $3,509 at signing. This offer on the midgrade 2019 Colorado LT 4WD with a crew cab and short box expires Jan. 2 and comes with a 30,000-mile limit.
Lease deal: $219 per month for 36 months with $3,218 due at signing
The 2018 Toyota Tacoma comes in six grades, from the mundane SR to the off-road-capable TRD Pro. The SR5 is one trim above the base and starts at $27,325. The model in this offer is a two-wheel drive double cab with a five-foot bed and a 3.5-liter V6 engine.
Toyota is offering this Tacoma with $500 holiday bonus cash in addition to the low monthly payment rate. Qualified lessees must take delivery by Jan. 2.
Purchase deal: $5,812 price reduction and purchase allowance
This deal combines a number of offers to get to the nearly $6,000 incentive off a 2018 GMC Canyon 4WD Denali with a crew cab and a long box. Its starting MSRP, is $45,690 although dealerships are selling the model for an average of $1,962 below that. GMC is offering a further $3,850 purchase allowance on the model.
To take advantage of the deal, qualified buyers must finance through GM Financial and take retail delivery by Jan. 2.
