Spy photographers spotted a Silverado HD prototype with camouflage draped over its rear tailgate as it tested on public roads outside Detroit. The disguise was hiding the MultiPro tailgate currently available on Sierra 1500 and HD models.
Adding the MultiPro tailgate to the Silverado HD gives owners another point of entry into the bed, in addition to two large steps on the rear corners and two steps toward the cabin. MultiPro can be adjusted into six different positions including a standing desk and an extending platform for hauling long cargo.

SIERRA HD HAS IT ALREADY
General Motors launched redesigned versions of its heavy-duty Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickups earlier this year. While the Sierra HD offered the MultiPro option that debuted on the Sierra 1500, it is not available on either Chevrolet model.
The Silverado HD prototype indicates that will soon change. The camouflage on the prototype truck slipped away to reveal distinct cut lines in the tailgate.
Putting the MultiPro gate on the Silverado HD would give GM leverage in the heavy-duty segment. Each of the Detroit Three automakers unveiled new models this year in an effort to claim share in the lucrative market.

The MultiPro tailgate is available on all 2020 Sierra HD trims and comes standard on 1500 trims, including the midrange SLT, off-road AT4 and luxurious Denali. Both the 2020 Silverado HD and 2020 Sierra HD go on sale this summer.
