XPO Moves Into Trucking With Con-Way Acquisition

October 27, 2015 by Seth Sparks, @sethbsparks

With a $3 billion acquisition of Con-way, Inc., XPO Logistics will enter the trucking business for the first time in the U.S., according to the Wall Street Journal. This comes only months after XPO announced a deal to acquire French transport company Norbert Dentressangle for $3.5 billion.

In a recent Q&A, XPO CEO Brad Jacobs discussed the integration with Con-way, whose efficiency and high customer-satisfaction rates will make the process easy on XPO. “The real integration work is on the back office,” said Jacobs, “where we have a lot of duplicative SG&A and where they have something and we have something, you don’t need two of the ‘same something.’”
