Ford Motor Co. plans to export its high-performance, off-road, F-150 Raptor SuperCrew pickup truck to China starting next year.

The automaker already exports versions of the F-150 to 96 countries but has not sold the pickup in China previously.

The 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor will be built at Ford’s factory in Dearborn, Mich.

The F-150 Raptor will have “low volume” sales in China, said Mike Levine, a Ford spokesman.  He declined to say whether the number would be in the hundreds or thousands.

“By introducing it to the world’s largest auto market, we hope to inspire a new generation of off-road enthusiasts, and demonstrate how we are always bringing our customers new innovations.” said John Lawler, chief executive of Ford Motor China
