Volvo Recalls 6,000 Trucks to Fix Brake Performance Problem

January 17, 2017 by Carina Ockedahl, @Ockis9

Volvo Trucks North America is recalling 6,127 vehicles because the brake system can become contaminated, increasing the risk of a crash.

The recall affects 2013-2017 VNL and VNM trucks and model year 2017 VNX trucks.

The software that controls the vehicle’s electronic air dryer includes incorrect parameters that would allow more condensation to pass through the air system. As a result, oil and water could enter the brake system and contaminate it.

This can affect the vehicle’s braking performance, whicaccording to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

No crashes or injuries related to this defect have been reported.

Dealers have already been alerted to the issue and owners will be notified by Feb. 17.
