FCA Recalls Dodge Journey, Ram Trucks for Backup Camera Fix

July 16, 2018 by Jack Nerad

Fiat Chrysler is recalling 1,837 2018 Dodge Journey SUVs and Ram light-, medium- and heavy-duty pickup trucks to fix glitches in the backup camera system’s software that may prevent images from being displayed while in use.

The recall covers 2018 Dodge Journey SUVs and 2018 Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500 trucks build from May 1, 2018, to May 11, 2018.

A loss of the rearview image could lead to increased risk of injury to people outside of the vehicle in the event the driver does not check surroundings through traditional means, according to the National Highway Traffic Administration.

Similar vehicles not included in the recall were built after May 11 and have updated internal rear-view mirror software that enables the display of the rearview image.

FCA will notify vehicle owners, and its dealers will replace the rearview mirror free of charge. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA’s number for this recall is U56.

The recall is expected to begin August 3.
