General Motors injected new blood into the midsize truck segment with its sibling pickups, the GMC Canyon and Chevrolet Colorado. It’s a welcome shake-up for the category, which has traditionally been ruled by the Toyota Tacoma. More players equal more shopping, which means more competitive deals for consumers.
Trucks.com compiled a list of deals that represent the best value for consumers. Incentives vary by region, so always check with a local dealership. Don’t be afraid to negotiate.
Honda is not currently offering special deals for the Ridgeline midsize truck.
All the deals in this article are valid through at least Oct. 31, although some may be extended.
Deal: $249 per month for 36 months with $2,999 due at signing
The perennially popular Toyota Tacoma is mild-mannered on the streets but tackles tough terrain with ease. The SR grade is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. It comes standard with part-time four-wheel drive, a 6.1-inch touchscreen and hardware on the windshield designed to hold a GoPro camera. The Double Cab model included in this deal seats five.
This lease deal includes a 10,000-mile-per-year limit and expires Oct. 31.
Deal: $2,000 cash allowance
Like other midsize trucks, the GMC Canyon is capable off- and on-road. It comes in seven trims with a number of cab, bed and drivetrain configurations. The Canyon’s optional 2.8-liter Duramax diesel engine gets 20 mpg in the city and 28 on the highway, the segment’s best fuel economy. It also lets the Canyon tow up to 7,000 pounds. This deal is for all models except the base SL grade.
To take advantage of this offer buyers must take delivery of their new Canyon by Oct. 31.
Deal: 0% APR for 36 months and $500 in bonus cash
The Nissan Frontier has the lowest starting price of any truck on the market today. The King Cab comes in four trim levels, and the Crew Cab comes in five. They both are available in a variety of 4×2 and 4×4 configurations. Nissan also offers the Midnight Edition appearance package on the Frontier, which comes with black wheels, spoiler, mirror caps and special floor mats. A rearview camera and Bluetooth were added as standard equipment for the 2018 model year.
This APR is for financing up to 36 months. Buyers can extend the length of their financing at a higher rate This offer expires Oct. 31.
Deal: 1.9% financing for 60 months
The capable Toyota Tacoma is offered in a variety of grades, from mild-mannered to aggressive off-roader. Toyota is offering this low financing deal for all six trims of the Tacoma: SR, SR5, TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, Limited and TRD Pro. A number of cab, bed and drivetrain options are available. The base SR model starts at $25,400, and the top-tier TRD Pro has a starting MSRP of $41,720.
To take advantage of this deal, buyers must qualify though Toyota Financial Services. The offer expires Oct. 31.
Deal: Up to $2,500 in cash incentives
Nissan is offering cash incentives for buyers of any 2018 Frontier from King Cab to Crew Cab and 4×2 and 4×4 models. Buyers will also receive $500 in bonus cash. Qualified buyers can get $2,000 cash back instead of taking advantage of the automaker’s low APR offer. To get the offer, buyers must choose from new dealer stock and purchase by Oct. 31.
Deal: $299 per month for 36 months with $5,079 due at signing
The Chevrolet Colorado has capability that makes it competitive with other midsize trucks while delivering the smooth ride of a solid daily driver. Prices start at $20,200, but the Colorado Crew Cab LT with four-wheel drive that is part of this deal has an MSRP of $33,775.
Current lessees of 2012 model year or newer Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC vehicles qualify for a lower down payment with just $3,579 due at signing. This national lease offer comes with a 30,000-mile-per-year limit and expires Oct. 31.
