The Zenvanz DIY Van Kit lets anyone easily convert their Mercedes Sprinter van into a mobile backcountry studio apartment or adventure vehicle. The company, based in Portland, Ore., specializes in the use of bamboo to allow vanlifers to make the most out of limited space.
With the kit, anyone with a Sprinter van, a desire to expend some elbow grease and $18,000 can install a series of modular bamboo components to transform their vehicle. Featuring an aluminum exoskeleton, the components include cabinets, bed panels, siding and drawers.
Because of its modular design, the entire system can be removed as easily as it’s installed. This allows buyers to quickly convert their Sprinter back into a normal cargo van to haul furniture, garden supplies or other goods. It also provides for unique customization. For example, if a trip doesn’t require a kitchen, the kit makes it easy to take it out and reinstall later.
For the $18,000 price tag, the Zenvanz DIY Van Kit includes components for a galley-style kitchen, three bedside cabinets, seven upper storage cabinets, a three-panel bed system, a slide-out porta potty concealer and a fold-out gear-drying rack. Each features the same aluminum exoskeleton and bamboo construction, in addition to stainless steel hardware.
If a full-on bamboo-conversion is desired, the brand also offers an additional set of sealed bamboo door and wall panels, as well as half-inch bamboo ceiling slats. All Zenvanz products are backed with a two-year warranty that covers any manufacturer defects.
