FCA Recalls Ram 1500 Pickup Trucks for Adjustable-Pedals Defect

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is recalling 2019 Ram 1500 pickup trucks equipped with adjustable pedals because a defective assembly could cause the brake pedal to detach.

FCA said it is unaware of any related injuries or accidents. The company urged customers to avoid using the feature until serviced.

Dealership technicians will secure the brake pedals on an estimated 193,813 trucks in the U.S. About a third of the trucks are in dealer inventory and will be fixed before being sold.

The switch-activated adjustable-pedal feature enables a driver to adjust the pedals based on the driver’s height. Moving the pedals to their rear-most position could compromise the integrity of the electric motor-powered assembly, FCA found.

FCA recalled an additional 23,481 vehicles sold in Canada, Mexico and markets outside North America. The 2019 Ram 1500 Classic, based on the previous generation Ram 1500, was unaffected.

A majority of automotive media voted the 2019 Ram 1500 the North American Truck of the Year.
