Mack Recalls Heavy-Duty Trucks With Defective Mirrors

March 11, 2019 by Alan Adler, @AlanAdler

Mack Trucks Inc. is recalling some 2019-2020 versions of its Granite, Anthem and Pinnacle heavy-duty trucks because an optional mirror could detach and strike another vehicle or pedestrian.

The division of Volvo Group said in a filing with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that 3,906 trucks built with the mirror could be affected. No reports of injuries or crashes have been received, Mack said.

The potentially defective mirror is mounted on the top of the passenger door and points downward.

Mack dealers will repair affected trucks for free by adding additional fasteners and a reinforcement plate if needed.

The NHTSA recall number is 19V-054.
