Auto Shanghai 2019: Porsche Unveils 2020 Cayenne Coupe

April 17, 2019 by Rick Stella, @RickStella

Porsche will expand its Cayenne luxury SUV lineup to include a coupe body style called the Cayenne Coupe.

The 2020 Cayenne Coupe appeared at Auto Shanghai 2019 this week and will reach U.S. dealerships in fall 2019.

Smaller than the standard Cayenne, the Cayenne Coupe will compete with other fastback crossovers like the BMW X6, Audi Q8 and Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe.

The Cayenne Coupe features a steeper roofline than the standard Cayenne for a fastback look. It also has integrated window sun shades, a panoramic glass roof with available carbon fiber and eight-way adjustable front sport seats.

Despite its low roofline, rear passengers still have plenty of headroom thanks to the second row riding 1.18 inches lower than that of the standard Cayenne. Behind the second row, rear cargo space measures 22 cubic feet and increases to 54.3 cubic feet with the second row folded down.

The Cayenne Coupe is available in two trim levels: the base Cayenne Coupe and the Cayenne Turbo Coupe. The base model has a 3.0-liter V6 engine capable of 335 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque, while the Turbo Coupe has a 4.0-liter turbocharged V8 delivering 541 horsepower and 567 pound-feet of torque.

All models come standard with the Sport Chrono Package, which includes an analog and digital stopwatch and a longitudinal and lateral acceleration display. There’s also Sport+ mode, which enhances drive performance by making steering more sensitive, stiffening the damping and improving engine responsiveness.

Other standard equipment includes 20-inch wheels and Porsche’s active suspension management system. This automatically responds to different road conditions by self-leveling the Cayenne and adjusting its ride height. It also optimizes wheel contact on the road.

Both the Coupe and Turbo Coupe feature an adaptive rear spoiler that extends by 5.3 inches whenever the vehicle travels at speeds over 56 miles per hour. The spoiler increases downforce to the rear axle when extended.

Starting price for the 2020 Cayenne Coupe is $76,550. The more powerful Cayenne Turbo Coupe has a base price of $131,350. All prices include a $1,250 destination charge.
