Airstream and Pottery Barn Team to Create Pricey, High-Style Trailer

July 28, 2021 by Claire Dragich

Airstream and Pottery Barn, two companies with strong reputations for style and design, got together to create the latest look in a camper trailer.

Airstream supplies its new 28-foot trailers and the home furnishings retailer outfits the camper to create Pottery Barn Special Edition Travel Trailer, which starts at starts at $145,000.

The Airstream already includes the standard amenities you would expect in a camper-trailer, including a kitchen, bathroom and sleeping accommodations. What’s different from the company’s standard trailers is that each area of this camper each area of the trailer has a Pottery Barn touch–from bathroom design to curtain fabric–every detail was thought through by both companies. The goal was to bring the functionality and streamlined technology of Airstream in combination with Pottery Barn’s aesthetic.

“Pottery Barn has this kind of magical ability to shape a space. You see it in their home interiors, where there’s a comfortable, functional beauty to even the smallest spaces,” said Bob Wheeler, Airstream’s chief executive.

The Pottery Barn Special Edition Travel Trailer design starts with a living space that includes ultra-soft seating and a sofa that has a hidden airline-style table in the arm.

The kitchen has a durable solid oak wood dinette table. There is a matte-black pull-down kitchen faucet, stainless-steel flat apron sink, and a walnut cutting board sink cover.

In the bathroom, there is a round vessel sink and a matte-black faucet. The design team wants to select each material and appliance to make the occupants feel like they were doing everyday tasks in their own home.

There is no shortage of storage in the travel trailer. There are custom-made storage sections for luggage or household items under the beds.  Additional storage is located in the overhead lockers with beadboard paneling.

There are wall sconces in each room to keep everything well-lit and Emery fabric curtains all throughout the trailer to keep the light out during the early morning hours.

“With Airstream, we were able to build on the comfort of home that Pottery Barn is known for while feeling the sense of adventure and the idea that home is wherever our customers are,” said Marta Benson, Pottery Barn’s president.

Pottery Barn added pieces useful for traveling. They include a 16-piece Mason Stoneware dinner set, an Indio Outdoor Folding Table and Armchair set, a doormat, and more.

The trailer can sleep up to four people, and its twin or queen size bed options come with Pottery Barn Belgian flax linen bedding.

Airstream also added an outdoor table that attaches to the exterior of the trailer and an awning. The table can easily be set up to accommodate eating, drinking, or game night.

The trailer sleeps up to four people with twin and queen-sized bed options. The Airstream Pottery Barn Special Edition Travel Trailer can be ordered from the company’s dealers.

Hauling a 30-foot, 7,800-pound Airstream trailer with a light-duty Ford F-150 pickup proves challenging despite the truck’s 10,100-pound towing capacity.
