Our Evaluation of the SeaSucker Talon Bike Rack

THE PROBLEM:
How to transport bicycles when your vehicle does not have roof rails or cross bars.

THE SOLUTION:
The SeaSucker Talon is a rack system for vehicles that lack roof rails and cross bars. There are two separate pieces — one to secure the front forks and one to secure the back wheel. Suction cups on each piece attach to the vehicle’s roof, windshield or rear window to keep them locked in place. The device carries one bike.

Step 1: Clean the Surface

STEP 1: CLEAN THE SURFACE: Make sure the mounting area is clean before attaching the suction cups. Wipe down the suction pads and moisten the surface to enhance suction.

Step 2: Pump Up the Suction

STEP 2: PUMP UP THE SUCTION: Press the pad onto the vehicle surface and push the small pump cylinder stationed above each pad. Pump the cylinder until the colored section is no longer visible. SeaSucker recommends checking the cylinder regularly during road trips to ensure no color is visible.

Step 3: Mount the Bike

STEP 3: MOUNT THE BIKE: Remove the front wheel of the bicycle. The ends of the front fork will fit onto the SeaSucker fork lock. The rear wheel mount holds the back of the bike in place.

Step 4: Secure the Bike

STEP 4: SECURE THE BIKE: Close the metal clamp to secure the fork in place. Interchangeable plugs are available for bikes that require different through axle sizing or type, and fittings for bikes with conventional quick release hubs. Use the Velcro strap or tightening belt to secure the rear wheel.
